Introduction

Within this site we aim to explore the characteristics of
Parkinson's disease and the associative effects individuals with this disease
may encounter with respect to swallowing. As the disease progresses,
individuals with Parkinson's Disease are susceptible to manifesting swallowing
problems (clinically referred to as dysphagia) which can lead to risk of
pneumonia, malnutrition, and weight loss. Therefore, it is important to
understand the aspects of Parkinson’s disease and it’s symptomology to employ
proper treatment in an attempt to improve a patient’s quality of life.
